Cross river valleys & through Cretan villages to the Samaria Gorge to get a glimpse of the best panoramic views of the Libyan sea and the White Mountains.
Our day starts from the center of Chania moving westwards to reach the big orange valley of Chania.
In a few minutes we will be inside the valley moving southwest through orange trees and farming areas full of aromas and tastes, surprises are always welcome there…
Crossing the valley and a river with our well-equipped Land Rover Defenders, we move through Cretan villages and start climbing on altitude, with the best panoramic view of Chania. After a few kilometres we will reach the beautiful and historical village of Lakkoi.
There we stop for some photos and a historic guided tour of the village. Our adrenaline will be raised up following an offroad route through the heart of the White Mountains, crossing the unknown shepherd’s paths and enjoy the fresh air, wild vegetation, livestock and breathtaking views. At the end of our adventure route we reach Kallergi Refugee at 1680m altitude above the sea level.
The view is unique just above Samaria Gorge, from south the view of the Libyan sea and around us the highest tops of White Mountains. From the balcony of Samaria we will be welcomed by the owner of the Refugee with a hot cup of mountain tea, and afterwards a Cretan lunch will be offered with plenty of wine and warm Cretan hospitality. Raki shots won’t miss our lunch break… With a full appetite, a lot of photos and views we continue our off road route for 5 kilometers in order to reach Omalos Plateu and Xiloskalo where is the entrance of Samaria Gorge. A quick stop for photos and then we follow the asphalt road to Chania. After an hour our day trip comes to end arriving at Chania full of memories, photos and amazing views.
